CitySlicker closes Series A financing - The group buying company will focus on geographical expansion across South Africa
Written by: Save to InstapaperThe South African daily deal company CitySlicker has closed its series A financing round with estag Capital AG from Germany. The company intends to use the funds, whose amount remains undisclosed, to accelerate its geographical expansion across South Africa and to pursue strategic partnerships.
“This financing round will enable us to accelerate our presence in all major South African cities. We particularly like the entrepreneurial spirit and track record of estag Capital’s management.” says CitySlicker’s CEO Olivier Chas. Joerg Duske of estag Capital adds “Three factors decided us to invest in CitySlicker: the company has been outperforming its competitors in Cape Town from the get-go, we have an excellent connection with the founding team and the South African market is very receptive to daily deals. We are looking forward to a very fruitful collaboration.”
CitySlicker is an Internet marketing company proposing discounted deals to consumers on a targeted-community basis via e-mail and social media channels. CitySlicker offers consumers discounts of 50%-90% off lifestyle products, services and attractions. The CitySlicker.co.za website was officially launched in April 2011 in Cape Town.
